Our Science class has been engaging in a project based learning activity to research and plan new plantings in our Songbird and Pollinator Garden (the garden formerly known as the Kinder Garden). We've been updating our bird feeders, watering, clearing out the weeds and dead plants, and digging up sapling trees that the squirrels were so kind as to plant for us as they were burying their winter seed supply. The students have been researching bird desirable plants that are best in full sun, are drought tolerant, and of varying heights. We've been using the Central Texas Audubon Society website to learn how to create a bird friendly community in our region. As the weather cools, we'll be adding plants, as well as a songbird wildflower seed mix to the garden.
