Hello!!! I hope you all had a fabulous summer! I love nature, geology and history, so I had a great time road tripping to various National Parks and Monuments in both New Mexico and Colorado! Here are some of my adventures below:

Our Science class has been engaging in a project based learning activity to research and plan new plantings in our Songbird and Pollinator Garden (the garden formerly known as the Kinder Garden). We've been updating our bird feeders, watering, clearing out the weeds and dead plants, and digging up sapling trees that the squirrels were so kind as to plant for us as they were burying their winter seed supply. The students have been researching bird desirable plants that are best in full sun, are drought tolerant, and of varying heights. We've been using the Central Texas Audubon Society website to learn how to create a bird friendly community in our region. As the weather cools, we'll be adding plants, as well as a songbird wildflower seed mix to the garden.
I hope you all had a great summer break! My summer started off with teacher training and workshops, then my time was spent finding swimming holes as much as possible, and taking a long road trip up to Wisconsin and Minnesota. I spent time at a beautiful cabin on the lake, where we took boat rides, relaxed in hammocks, did some impromptu bird watching (there was a bald eagle and her two young eaglets in a tree near the cabin), made campfires, and watched beautiful sunsets and sunrises. Tell me about your summer!
